August 3, TUESDAY 6 – 8:00pm
 “PIPING HOT” CLASS  $17
Teacher: Aileen
Whether you want piping for clothing trim, pillows, or even quilts, having the know how is the best way to get just the look you want. Learn how to create and attach your own piping (fabric covered cord) to add a “Professional Decorator” Touch. Students will be making samples to use as a reference when creating projects at home, on their own.

“EXPLORING YOUR SERGER” $33
Teacher: Kathy
 CLASS 1: This is a great class for getting to know your machine. You will learn the threading of your machine and the basic 3-thread and 4-thread over lock seams. While learning the basic techniques of the machine you will make a simple bag with zipper to store your control foot or accessories for your sewing machines.
CLASS 2: This class is a continuation of the first class. We will cover rolled hem, blind hem and gathering. You will be creating a project that includes ruffles, pin tucks, flat lock stitches and lots more.

Look smart with a Smarty Girl Book Bag ~ perfect for toting sketchpads, coloring books, or your next good read. Fun to sew, this project is perfect for beginning and advanced sewers alike. Learn the technique of ruffles, lining and how to combine different fabric prints.

“Rotary Cutting and Machine Piecing” $49

BeginnersMachine required
In this class you will learn the correct and safe use of your rotary cutter and how it can save you hours of time in cutting and piecing your quilts.  We will complete three blocks in class, each involving a useful rotary technique.  You will learn fast machine piecing tricks of the trade as well as how to read and follow rotary cutting instructions.  You’ll experiment with strip piecing, triangle paper, easy corner triangles and will learn accurate piecing and pressing techniques. Any of the blocks that you make could be expanded into an entire quilt pattern! The three you make in class could be easily assembled into a table runner.

“V5 SOFTWARE REFRESHER CLASS” $25

Here is your chance to rediscover your Version 5 Software. It is a great way to get started or up your skills. Features that we will be covering are combining and scaling designs and adding lettering Learn how to save Embroidery designs from USB sticks, CD’s and those downloaded from the internet. Monogramming features, Auto Digitizer and Magic Wand will be explored.

“MODERN MIX” QUILT CLASS  $21
Teacher: Kathy
Create this showpiece quilt using a combination of traditional blocks, contemporary fabrics and modern-day sewing techniques – such as adding embroidered blocks. Interested in taking this class but don’t have an embroidery machine, let us know and we’ll set you up with the classroom machine. Stop in and see the samples as this quilt progresses into a spectacular showpiece.

Through a virtual software presentation, a professional BERNINA Educator will walk you through a lesson and introduce a project showcasing the featured technique. Bring your laptop with software loaded to class. A question and answer demo session will follow.

Outline Fun! Use our powerful new outlining tool in Version 6 to create echo quilting – let the software do your quilting. Explore Auto Digitizing and Magic Wand features to create redwork designs, lettering outlines, etc. Use the designs to embellish a very practical car organizer.

 “RUFFLE ME UP” CLASS $17

Ruffles and gathers have many different applications when you are sewing. Whether you are making a ruffled pillow, adding ruffles to a straight curtain or adding a ruffle to the hem of a child's dress, having an even, full gather is essential. Students will learn a quick foolproof way to make and attach ruffles. An extra bonus technique added to this class – learning how to do beautifully mitered hems.
 
 
August 28, SATURDAY 10 – 3 pm
Machine Appliqué Invisibly    $41

Beginners and Beyond. Machine required that can do a narrow zigzag or hem stitch
Do you love the look of appliqué but not the time required for all that intricate handwork? This class will teach you a simple machine method using freezer paper, glue and invisible thread to attain results that rival perfect handwork. I will share tricks of the trade that I have learned from Harriet Hargraves and Roxy Eppler as well as from my own experience. This is a technique class that will include Drunkard’s Path - made easily without pins or curved piecing – as well as a simple Flower Block.
 
 
August 31, Tuesday 6 – 9pm
“Binding Your Quilt”  $25
Teacher: Schley Brandt
Beginners and beyond.  Machine required. 
 Bring in a single block or a quilted wall hanging (or bigger) with straight edges, not curved, and learn how to do beautiful, double fold, mitered cornered binding.  (This is not bias binding, but I’ll show you a quick way to cut bias binding.)  Learn to begin and end your binding smoothly.  This process is simple and foolproof and is a great class for any level quilter who wants to improve the finished look of her/his projects.
